KAIKADO: 150 YEARS OF ARTISANAL LEGACY
For one and a half centuries, the Yagi family has been mastering their craft of creating tea caddies in their Kyoto workshop. Produced and published by ERG Media, Kaikado celebrates the remarkable milestone of their 150th anniversary, narrating the history of the family and highlighting the meticulous process involved in the creation of the world’s most iconic chazutsu.
AN UNCOMPROMISING DEVOTION TO QUALITY
The three different covers of Kaikado represent the copper, brass, and tin that the brand is renowned for. Chapters are separated by tactile, richly textured paper echoing Kaikado’s distinctive packaging, and the open-spine binding - often seen in Japanese publishing - underscores the deep connection between the book and the artisanal tradition it celebrates.
